Visualisation of the Alison Handling B2B platform

Project summary

Alison Handling is a UK-based B2B company specialising in the sale of plastic solutions for storage, transport and product organisation. As part of the project, we created a lighter and easier-to-manage B2B platform, replacing a more complex system with many features that were not needed in the company’s day-to-day sales process.

The new platform was designed around a product catalogue and quote requests. We focused on clear offer presentation, intuitive navigation and a product structure aligned with users’ buying intent — including sectors, applications, parameters, materials and dimensions. The platform was completed with a quote request process, supported by email integration and prepared for further development, including a future CRM connection and automation of quote request handling.

The challenge

The client needed a platform that better matched the real way B2B sales worked in the business. The previous system was more complex than the catalogue- and quote-based model required, which made its management and further development unnecessarily demanding.

The key challenge was to create a simpler, more flexible solution that also organised a broad product range. The catalogue had to guide users according to their buying intent — from sector and application, through technical parameters, to product selection and sending a request to the sales team.

The platform also had to be ready for further development and integrations with external systems that could support the sales process. This meant considering not only current needs at the design stage, but also future automation of quote request handling.

Our approach

We started by defining the role of the platform in the sales process. Alison Handling did not need a classic online shop, but a B2B tool that presents the offer, helps business customers choose the right products and guides them towards submitting a quote request.

We placed strong emphasis on the catalogue architecture. Products were organised in line with how users actually search for solutions — by sector, application, technical parameters, materials and dimensions. This allows the platform to support buying decisions already at the offer browsing stage.

We also considered communication with customers after a quote request had been submitted. The platform was connected with an email communication tool so that Alison Handling could build its audience and strengthen relationships with existing customers. The whole solution was designed as a lighter, easier-to-manage platform, ready for further development and sales process integrations.

Selected project elements

Selected screens show how we combined clear presentation of a broad product range with intuitive navigation, a quote request process and a lighter B2B platform prepared for further sales growth.

Scope of work

Technology consulting

Selection of a lighter platform that better fits the B2B sales model and reduces the complexity of the previous system.

UX and catalogue architecture

Structuring the offer around the way users search for products — through categories, applications, parameters, materials and dimensions.

Web development

Development of a B2B platform combining a product catalogue, quote request process, customer account and convenient administration.

Product migration

Migration of products, variants, parameters and technical data from the previous system into a new, organised structure.

Quote request process

Design of a path where users select products, add them to a quote basket and send one combined request to the sales team.

Email integration and CRM readiness

Connecting the platform with an email communication tool and preparing the process for future CRM integrations and sales automation.

How the project was delivered

We worked in stages, starting with an audit of the existing solution and defining which elements should be migrated, simplified or redesigned. At this stage, it was important to maintain catalogue continuity and organise product data before migration.

Next, we prepared the interface design, developed the new platform and migrated products together with their structure, variants and technical parameters. In parallel, we configured the quote request mechanism, email integration and basic customer account features.

The final stage included testing views, forms, quote request functionality and data accuracy after migration. After launch, the platform was ready for day-to-day use by the Alison Handling team and further development with additional sales integrations.

Results

The result is a lighter and easier-to-manage B2B platform, aligned with the way Alison Handling sells. The website organises a broad offer more clearly, helps customers find the right products and guides them towards submitting a quote request.

From a technical perspective, the platform is simpler and less demanding to maintain than the previous solution. Reducing unnecessary functionality lowers the risk of technical issues, makes day-to-day website management easier and helps reduce the cost of maintenance.

The new platform also improves work on the company’s side — from catalogue management and quote handling to further email communication with customers. Its structure allows the sales process to be developed with further integrations with external tools, including CRM and automation of quote request handling.

Convenient offer browsing, specification review and quote request submission from a smartphone.

B2B customer account

Customer panel functionality with quote request history, supporting repeat B2B collaboration.

Better sales organisation

Email integration, audience building and a process prepared for future connection with external tools.

Simpler platform maintenance
